01 — The problem
Why "just give them database access" doesn't work
Without an admin panel, ops and support teams depend on engineers for routine fixes: correcting an address, extending a trial, merging duplicate records, resetting a status. Each request becomes a ticket and a wait.
The usual shortcuts are risky. Shared spreadsheet exports go stale the moment they're downloaded. Direct database access gives far more power than anyone needs, with no record of who changed what. And building a proper admin panel as a traditional dev project rarely wins against customer-facing work.
02 — What to build
What a good admin panel includes
Searchable record lists with filters for the fields your team actually looks up.
Detail and edit views where only approved fields are editable.
Bulk actions such as status changes or reassignment, with a confirmation step.
Role-based permissions
support agents edit contact details, team leads approve refunds, everyone else reads.
A change log showing who edited a record, when, and the old and new value.
Guardrails like required reasons for sensitive edits and validation before saving.
03 — How to build it
Building your admin panel in Henosia, step by step
Start a private project
Nothing is exposed until you publish.
Add mock data that mirrors your real tables, for example customers, subscriptions and support cases as CSV files.
Connect a database so the panel reads and writes structured data during testing.
Use Plan mode to define the panel
List the records, editable fields, roles and guardrails. The agent asks clarifying questions and proposes a plan before building.
Build a first version and try to break it
Test edits, bulk actions and permission boundaries with colleagues in each role.
Publish with access control based on your company email domain and app-level permissions.
Plan an admin panel for our support team using the attached customers, subscriptions and cases CSVs.
Agents can search customers, edit contact details and add notes; they cannot change billing fields.
Team leads can extend subscriptions and approve refund requests, with a required reason.
Log every edit with user, timestamp, old value and new value.
Bulk status changes need a confirmation screen showing affected records.Paste it into a private Henosia project in Plan mode. The agent asks questions and proposes a plan first.
04 — Before you go live
Write access is the real design decision
An admin panel is only as safe as its permissions. Before connecting production data, decide which tables the panel may write to, which stay read-only, and who owns each data source. Agree on who approves publishing and future changes, and test every role against your rules.
Scope each connection per system, data direction and access level; Henosia can work with API-based data, and more point-and-click connector interfaces are on its roadmap. Governance gives IT an overview of apps, builders, integrations and users.
Start a private project, list the five edits your team asks engineers for most often, and plan a panel around them. If you mainly need read-only metrics, an internal dashboard may be the better first build.

Frequently asked questions
What is an admin panel?
An admin panel is an internal interface where authorized staff view and manage business data, such as customer records, orders, users or settings, without touching the database directly. A good one limits what each role can edit, validates changes and keeps a record of who did what.
Do I need a developer to build an admin panel?
Not to plan and build a first version. A process owner can define records, fields and roles in Plan mode. Because admin panels usually write to important data, involve IT or a technical builder to review permissions, data connections and testing before you publish to real users.
How does Henosia control who can edit data in an admin panel?
Published apps use Henosia Authentication, with access based on your company email domain, more granular app-level permissions and optional IP restrictions. Inside the panel you define roles and editable fields. IT gets an overview of apps, builders, integrations and users. Confirm specific security requirements for your setup.
Can I change the admin panel after it goes live?
Yes. You can extend an existing app with new prompts, for example adding a field, a bulk action or a new role. Treat changes like any release: test them in the project first, and have the agreed owner approve publishing the updated version.
